Kids at the farm

My family came to spend the weekend with me and see the new lambs. And of course they were excited to be able to feed Lily.

My nephew just loved the lamb and as you can see Lily loved him right back.

After Lily was through eating she went to join her "ewe herd."

This is one of my favorites. It's a big world out there.. Especially for something as little as Lily.

Six years ago my husband and I bought some land thinking we would walk along the fields, do a little fishing, star gazing and camping with friends. Little did I know that he had grand ideas of raising cattle. Beefmasters to be exact. And so at the end of Year 2, after many weekends of clearing and repairing fences, we bought 12 cows and a bull. The next summer we were the proud owners of six little calves! Four heifer and two bull calves. I was recording them in an old calendar and noticed that the first calf was born on St. Norbert's Day. So our first bull's name is Norbert. And so the next were named for their saints day but with some tweaks at times for the girls. Norbert, Prosper, Maria, Margrit (Maggie), Mildred (Millie) and Francis are our first.

After six years, we now have cattle, katahdin sheep, our guard dog, Luna, two guard donkeys, chickens, geese, ducks, guineas, and bees. And our dogs, Max and Arlo.
